Drake leads off 5 cash money reales for 2009
July 25th, 2009 Author: Anthony Springer Jr
After a relatively small set of offerings over the last several years, Cash Money Records has announced that it will release five albums before the end of 2009.
In an interview with All Hip Hop, Cash Money CEO Bryan “Baby” Williams revealed that the first release will be the label’s newest signee, rapper/actor Drake [click to read].
“Drake album, my album, Young Money, Wayne album. We gon’ put ‘em all out in one month, September going into October,” Williams said of the releases. “G. Malone and 2 Pistol probably come out in between all of that.”
The buzz that Cash Money has in the industry is only rivaled by the label's initial buzz after signing a historic $30 million deal with Universal in 1998. Currently, Drake’s single “Best I Ever Had” is climbing the charts, while Young Money’s “Every Girl” [click to watch] and Baby’s “Stay Strapped” are all keeping the label in the public eye.
“And it’s just coincidence that all our songs popped off at the same time [since] some of them been out longer than others,” Williams added.
For fans who can’t get enough of the label’s biggest star, Lil Wayne, Williams also noted that the Young Money compilation will be released the same day as Wayne’s next outing, Rebirth [click to read].

LIL Wayne Sued!!!!
July 11th, 2009 Author: Edwin OrtizRed City Entertainment has sued New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne over a September 27, 2008 cancelled show in the Bahamas.
According to TMZ, Red City had planned on paying Weezy $432,000 for the show, and had given him an advance of $210,000. However, Red City representatives allege Wayne was found in his hotel room “unconscious” at the time he was supposed to be performing.
The rappers' manager Cortez Bryant has spoken out on the issue, arguing the cancelled show was a rescheduled performance from the day before.
“Our show was set for September 26 last year. We arrived on time, ready to perform and learned that due to lack of payment from the promoters, the sound company they had hired packed up and left the venue before Wayne was scheduled to hit the stage. So they were forced to cancel the show. On those grounds, at that moment, they were in breach of contract and forfeited their deposit,” he said in a statement to AllHipHop.com.
Explaining that Wayne had agreed to reschedule for a performance the next day, Bryant said the promoters failed to follow proper procedures that satisfied their contract. “When I arrived at the venue, the security was horrible, causing it to be an unsafe environment and the sound system wasn’t up to our contracted standard.” Continuing, Bryant stated, “I then told the promoters Wayne wasn’t coming because they didn’t have their setup to a contracted standard for the second night in a row.
Red City Entertainment is seeking $432,000 in the lawsuit.

July 3rd, 2009 Author: Danielle HarlingViewers of the 2009 BET Music Awards [click to read] were somewhat thrown a back when a performance of “Every Girl” by Lil Wayne, Drake, and other Young Money artists consisted of pre-teen girls dancing on the stage.

But BET has just released a statement to AllHipHop.com explaining that they had no part in what happened during the Young Money performance and that they “deeply regret” what took place.
“BET Networks deeply regrets the performance by Young Money [click to read] at the BET AWARDS,” a BET representative told AllHipHop.com. “Elements of the performance were unplanned and should not have happened.”

Game Apologizes to 50 Cent and Interscope
July 2nd, 2009 | Author: Salima Koroma
In a recent interview with MTV News, The Game [click to read] relayed Michael Jackson’s attempts to end the beef between him and 50 Cent [click to read]. Although the rappers eventually laid the feud to rest (without Jackson’s help) the tension between the two still remained. However, The Game has finally taken it upon himself to give a formal apology, not just to 50, but to the whole Interscope label.
“For 50, I’m just gonna apologize to him, just as a man,” he told MTV [click here]. “It has nothing to do with music, or beef, or nothing like that. It ain’t about being the bigger man. He can take it and say, ‘Game is apologizing,’ ‘Game’s a sucka, he’s apologizing.’ I’m apologizing for me to him, to [Dr.] Dre, to Jimmy Iovine, to Eminem, to all the fans. Because if you think about what Interscope was when we were gellin’, man we were it. We were an unstoppable force.”
He explained that while he was a member of G-Unit, there were some things he needed to do “for my career to have longevity, and for me to survive in Hip Hop music,” and this may have played a part in the dissolving relationship between himself and 50 Cent. He also expressed some regret that G-Unit and the Interscope label did not get to experience the success that it could have had, potentially.
“Now, four albums in, I can say as a man that G-Unit, Game, Aftermath, Black Wall Street, Interscope, Geffen, Eminem, Shady, from [Lloyd] Banks to [Young] Buck to [Tony] Yayo to Dre to whoever; If it woulda kept going: endless paper. Millions of albums sold. Because we were great together.”
The Game also expressed his strong belief that, had he and G-Unit (and perhaps Young Buck) not parted ways, many things would have been different.
“Me and Fif’s chemistry is what Method Man was to Redman when they get in. Red ain’t from Wu-Tang but you know when Meth gets wit' Redman it’s goin’ down… [Me and 50’s] biggest records were together. Whether I was on them or I wasn’t on them. Whether he was on them or he wasn’t on them. When we were in gellin’ writing together as a family, we had it man. If we never would have [broken] up, I think Detox would have been out and we all would have been selling millions from Banks to Buck, and Tony Yayo. I’m going to apologize for my role.”

Lil Wayne was present in a Yuma County, Arizona court, as the judge gave him pretrial updates on his drug possession and weapons charges. The charges stem from January, when Wayne was arrested in Yuma near a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint. Police reports note officers found cocaine, Ecstasy and a hand gun in his vehicle [click to read]. James Tilson is Wayne's attorney, and he is hoping to help his client out by questioning the training of the drug sniffing dog that helped search the car. Border officials have not turned in training records for the dog and Tilson says it's vital to the case."If the dog is not reliable, then that puts the entire probable cause for the stop into question," he said, in an Associated Press report [click here].Tilson is also hoping to see something in video cameras that may have taped the arrest. The judge has issued another court date, August 11, for this matter. Wayne has pleaded not guilty to all charges. This follows another drug bust charge. In March, a judge dismissed similar charges that came from 2006. http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.9381/title.lil-wayne-hits-the-courtroom

Tru Life Popped On First Degree Murder Charge?
In “I like to give away free wet t-shirts” news, the big homey Tru Life is back at it again, this time it’s rumored that he surrendured himself to NYPD authorities for allegedly killing a man via a shank.
Oh for real EbenGregory…I guess people getting ready to be like, “Free Tru Life” even though he allegedly shanked and killed somebody over some dumb sh*t huh man?
Yes.
And now…here’s BallerStatus.com explaining why Tru Life might be sitting two cells down from Max B: Gang members looking to avenge the shooting of a drug dealer stabbed two men — one fatally — in a Manhattan apartment building lobby last Monday. At the time, it was believed that the the man was shot as part of an ongoing fight between Black (one of the men stabbed) and the brother of Latino rapper Tru Life. Now, according to a report from VladTV.com, Tru Life may have been the man who knifed the slain man, and turned himself into police Tuesday night (June 23) on a first degree murder charge.
And now…here’s more BallerStatus.com explaining what happened on the night in question: Investigators believe five men were waiting in parked cars outside the New York apartment building, jumping the two men when they stepped into the lobby just before 9:30 a.m. The result, 30-year-old Jason Black and an unnamed 18-year-old man each suffered several stab wounds to their chests and faces. The 18-year-old died a short time later, while Black was listed in critical condition at Bellevue Hospital. The attack is rumored to be in retaliation for a 4 a.m. shooting outside Pacha nightclub, wheres suspected drug dealer Michael Slater was shot in the abdomen and is listed in stable condition at Bellevue.
I see said the blind man. And now…

Kelis Files Financial Statements Proving She’s Poor…Kinda
In “I’m poor…by rich people’s standards” news, the big homey Kelis is back at it again, this time she’s filed financial statements in her divorce case to prove that she’s rich poor and needs support to maintain a poor rich lifestyle.
Oh for real EbenGregory…since she can’t sell her milkshakes, she needs some stimulus money huh man?
Yes.
And now…here’s TMZ.com explaining why Kelis needs a stimulus package: Kelis has just filed her financials with the court, making her case to get support and baby expenses from estranged hubby Nas. Kelis says from 11/08 to 4/09, her average monthly income was $21,616. Hardly poor, but way less than what she and Nas were pulling in while she was with him.
Oh for real…she’s really poor.
And now…hear’s more TMZ.com explaining why $22K a month is rich poor: Kelis, who is ready to give birth, has some pretty hefty expenses — $80,831 a month … way more than she says she makes. Kelis says she hasn’t toured in a year and most of her income comes from her concerts. Kelis says she spends $14,861 on her mortgage. Her nanny costs $3,500 a month. She spends $15,000 a month on entertainment, gifts and vacations — not too shabby. And she says it cost $175 to have the “baby rug dry cleaned.” And there’s this … Kelis says she wants to buy “storage to bank the baby’s blood when he is born. The banking is the collection and storage of the stem cells found in the baby’s umbilical cord.” It’s used to treat 70 life-threatening diseases. It all costs $$$.
I see said the blind man. And now…
I’m rich poor but…not for long ice jewelry: The real measure of your wealth is how much you’d be worth if you lost all your money.

COOL PICS: Check Out T-Pain’s New Big A** Chain!
By Kevin L. Clark, Associate Editor June 8, 2009 2:10 pm
If I had money like this, I’d buy a house… invest in some stock. I’d try to see if I could get into the Internet game like those Twitter kids and make something out of myself. But the ultimate success for T-Pain besides being a Grammy Award winner is to be able to stunt on y’all haters by buying stuff like this:
What do YOU think? Should this “Big A** Chain” wearing guy be given an A+ for coolness? Or is he trying too hard to be deemed “successful.” Source:http://theurbandaily.blackplanet.com/music/cool-pics-check-out-t-pains-new-big-a-chain/

Boston Summer Jam when down a couple days ago and something very odd went down on the stage. When Bow Wow got on the stage, I heard he lost his mind for a few minutes. The rumor is, he got up there and started running his mouth about Ciara. I heard he talked about her quite a lot during the entire show, but shocked everybody. He allegedly said that he wasn’t stressing Ciara like everybody thought he was, because he was sleeping with Cassie. Fam…what the heck?

LIL WAYNE BUYS HOMES FOR BABY MOMS?
Well, it would seem that the truth is coming out and that Lil Wayne indeed has babies coming from both Lauren London and Nivea. I haven't seen anything that is refuting that. But, I am hearing that Wayne is being the ultimate good father. According to one of the morning shows (we don't know which) has reported that Wayne recently purchased new homes for both of his soon to be baby moms. WOW. How funny is that? Like, one baby is going to be luckier, because he mom is Lauren London. LOL. soures: http://allhiphop.com/stories/rumors/default.aspx
Chris Brown -- I'm a Celebrity ...
Posted Jun 16th 2009 5:15AM by TMZ Staff
Chris Brown is secretly knee-deep in a campaign to resurrect his image and his target is a certain group of 12 people who will judge his fate. And guess what -- it's working. We've been talking to people in Brown's world and here's what we know. Brown -- who hired Sitrick and Company, the crisis management firm for which he more than qualifies as a client -- has been calculating every public move he's made over the last 6 weeks. From the NBA final game last Sunday ... to the "I'm-not-a-monster" video.... to the antics with Omarion -- Sitrick and others have tried to make the images of Rihanna's bruised and battered face disappear -- or at least recede into the background. One source says Brown has been told going out clubbing could kill his chances with a jury -- it's just too flip. For the most part, he's obeyed them, although they weren't happy when Brown hit a club with the Kardashian sisters and Bow Wow.Ironically, Rihanna has actually helped Brown by resurrecting her glamorous self and getting on with her life.Short story: We're told the Sitrick and Company game plan is the opposite of what many lawyers would urge -- going underground until the trial. They want Brown out and about, resuming life within limits.Rihanna takes the stand next Monday to kick off Brown's preliminary hearing. Should be interesting.

Kelis claims estranged hubby Nas has left her high and dry ... not offering her a penny in the wake of her impending birth ... and she says she's broke -- "I have run out of money."Kelis filed legal papers claiming Nas isn't paying her support, pre-natal expenses -- nothing, even though she claims he is filthy rich.Kelis is asking the judge to order Nas to pay spousal support, child support, all pregnancy-related expenses, and one-half of all medical expenses after the child is born. She also wants $3,500 for the baby nurse after the child's birth, and $20,000 for strollers, cribs and other baby supplies.Kelis says, "My survival is based on [Nas'] will at this time. If he does not want to pay for an expense, it does not get paid." The couple was married in 2003. The baby is due this month.Kelis says she's entitled to maintain the lifestyle to which she became accustomed during their marriage -- they have five homes, fly first class, go to fancy restaurants, and on and on. Most interesting -- "There were many expensive pieces [of jewelry] such as a princess-cut diamond tennis bracelet that was recently appraised for $190,000. My engagement ring is an approximately nine-carat cushion-cut diamond solitaire. I have numerous watches...such as Cartier, Rolex, Frank Muller and Chopard."Her lawyer, disso-queen Laura Wasser, says in a separate declaration she's asked Nas to ante up some $$$ for Kelis and the unborn baby but he hasn't responded.

As a pleasant surprise for his fans, 50 Cent [click to read] plans to drop a full street album next Tuesday (June16) on his website ThisIs50.com, according to MTV. That's why I put LP next to it…My core audience will understand it immediately, and it's written specifically for that,” the Queens rapper told MTV. Known for his formidable mixtape work earlier in his career, 50 Cent says War Angel has the potential to be his best mixtape yet. “When you hear it, out of all the material I put on the street, you're gonna say that's the best body of work I put out in the mixtape circuit, period.” Adding Fifty, “The way the mood of music is right now, when they hear what this is, they'll say, “That's what we needed.’” While 50 has spent the last few months jarring with rapper Rick Ross, he explained there will be no shots fired on this new project. “I think if you don't identify when you've won a race, you'll continue to run victory laps until you've exhausted yourself. There's nothing else to win in the Rick Ross situation. There's nothing else to do to that guy from my perspective.” The New York rapper also revealed that another mixtape will come out July 4th, titled Sincerely Southside Part 2, along with another G-Unit mixtape that is currently untitled. His fourth studio album, Before I Self Destruct, is scheduled to drop sometime in September.

Like a Cadillac Seville in the '70s, a mobile phone in the '80s, or a yacht in the '90s, one of Hip Hop's status symbols this decade has been the American Express Black Card. From Lil Wayne [click to read] and Bow Wow [click to read], to CL Smooth [click to read] and The Clipse [click to read], rappers have championed the high limit, special services luxury card - so much so that Kanye West even deemed it "African American Express." One site, LuxuryPlastic.com [click here] is dedicated to this element of celebrity and pop culture behind the card, which was launched exactly 10 years ago. R. Doty is co-founder of the site dedicated to the premium luxury cards from American Express and Visa. "We were interested in what this whole unachievable status symbol was about," Doty told HipHopDX, in regards to his motivation for starting the site. A sales engineer for a top information systems company, Doty figured out the credit scoring system, and how to obtain an American Express Black Card, without being, as he says, "a super rich guy." The requirements, as stated by AMEX, is spending 250,000 dollars in the course of 12 months, resulting in balances that are paid in full on time. "As we got into [making the site], we realized how big it was in Hip Hop culture," Doty said. Citing everybody from Chamillionaire to Fat Joe to Fabolous to Ali Vegas, the site publishes lyrics and quotes that endorse the luxury cards, ranging from Black Card to Centurion Card to the Red Card. "That's where most of the action [on the site] is," he adds, referring to the Hip Hop components, outside of pop culture icons like Paris Hilton and others. "Hip Hop artists have all the reach and all the scale. When they do something, it's just like how Hip Hop crosses over to Pop, and everybody knows who Kanye West is. When a Hip Hop artist gets ahold of or says something about a Black Card, it piques peoples' interest and curiosity. I definitely think it's been big in helping getting exposure for the card."According to Doty, insider information through LuxuryPlastic.com has included the fact that Kanye West carries both AMX Red and Black cards. The Red cards are used for charitable donations, with no word which charities West directs his points towards. Perks of the card, which were listed by The Clipse throughout their We Got It 4 Cheap: Black Card Era mixtape, include concierge service, no limit spending, and access to exclusive Black Card-holder clubs, including the AMEX Black Card UltraLounge in Scottsdale, Arizona, and the Masareti Quattroporte Centurion Edition car. The card itself, is made out of titanium, affirming its luxury status. For more information on Black Cards and their role in Hip Hop culture, visit LuxuryPlastic.com [click here].
